Danièle BOUTARD

Wardrobe mistress

Give life again to silhouette from days gone by, this is the mission of a costume designer. Fashions, costumes, tissues from the past become alive during a cinematic fresco, a theatrical or lyric performance. Early attracted by the cut and dressmaking, Danièle Boutard became passionate thanks to Lila de Nobili and started researches on cut and materials from the past. While collecting authentic pieces Danièle Boutard realised patterns in order to faithfully copy old fashion style. Danièle Boutard is at the same time historian, corset maker, linen maid, embroideress, restorer… She works with comedians, stage director, filmmaker… This is the vocation of Danièle Boutard and Ateliers du Costume that she created in 1971.
