Olivier COTTET
Bassoon builder
Olivier Cottet is a historic oboe and bassoon builder as well as a modern German system bassoon builder.
In his workshop of Bois des Prés and not far from the Couture-Boussey, which is the birthplace of wind instrument building, he makes all the double-reed instruments from the renaissance and the following baroque and classical centuries.
He supplied the majority of the specialised orchestras in the repertoire of ancient music:
- The Orchestre des Lumières
- The Grande Ecurie and the Chambre du Roi (dir: J.C Malgoire)
- Douce Mémoire (dir: D.Raisin-Dadre)
- Les musiciens du Louvre (dir: M.Minkowsky)
- Les Talents Lyriques (dir: Ch.Rousset)
- Il Fondamento (dir: P.Dombrecht)
- The symphonie du Marais (dir: Hugo Reyne)
- The Concentus Musicus of Vienna (dir: N.Harnoncourt)
- The Concert Spirituel (dir: H.Niquet)
- The Academy of Ancient Music, Tafel Music, Café Zimmermann...etc
Self-taught in the domain of instrument building, Olivier Cottet is passionate for creation in all its forms. It is why he wishes to pass on his knowledge. Musician himself, he has the ear of a player.
The evolution of instrument building goes hand in hand with the evolution of musical language.
