Pierre GAUCHER

Wrought-iron artist

Pierre Gaucher, sculptor, wrought-iron craftsman, was given the title of Master of art in 1996. He set up his workshop in 1986 in collaboration with his apprentice Benjamin Schlunk. He was a student of the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs, and his numerous trips abroad – to Italy, Germany or to the USA – taught him the mastery of several fire arts techniques so as to use them in contemporary creation. The sculptor chose to express himself through one material especially : the metal that he loves to manufacture with forge tools, following his vision of art. Guard rails, railings or personal compositions... every creation will provoke strong reactions, being universally acknowledged for the elegance of the style, the material processing and use, and the plastic quality of the volumes. Pierre Gaucher will always practise his art with the meticulousness and elegance that characterizes his work, must it be monuments ordered by the State or interior designing and art objects on show in art galleries.
